The oats and flaxseed are both excellent sources of fiber. Oats and ground flax contain both insoluble fiber which is good for the gut and soluble fiber which makes for a happy heart. Flaxseed is also a fantastic source of omega-3 essential fatty acids. A diet rich in omega-3s can help to reduce the risk of chronic diseases, because they’re anti-inflammatory. These hearty oats are easy to make and give a great protein boost to start the day strong!

· 1 cup rolled oats
· 1/2 cup vanilla soy milk
· 1/2 cup plain greek yogurt
· 2 tsp maple syrup
· 2 tsp honey
· 1 tsp ground cinnamon
· 2 tsp vanilla extract
· 2 tbsp chopped pecans
·  2 tsp ground flaxseed (flaxmeal)

Combine all ingredients in a mason jar (or any sealable container) and stir to thoroughly combine. Refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight, allowing the oats to absorb all of the liquid.
