We’re excited to introduce Burn’s newest instructor: Marissa Baza
Marissa was born and raised in a small town in South Oklahoma City. At age 19, she set her sights on California, moving first to Los Angeles. Her love for fitness really began to shine when a friend introduced her to Tae Bo. Yes, those old VHS tapes and DVD’s with Billy Blanks…that’s it! With Billy by her side and a drive to get healthy, Marissa was really able to make fitness a priority and an integral part of her lifestyle. From here, she made her way up North from So Cal to the Bay Area to pursue a culinary degree. With the powerful knowledge of food, she was able to incorporate healthy eating habits in with her workouts. Marissa started as a client with Burn in 2014 and hasn’t looked back since. Finding the right workout, structure and motivation was just what she found at Burn. After experiencing what the program has to offer, she made the decision to become an instructor and help others achieve their similar goals. So get ready to work hard, sweat it out, and leave class feeling happy, strong and healthy!
1) What are some of your favorite things to do?
Dancing and singing…If there is a song on with a good beat, chances are, I’m moving to it. I also really enjoy the outdoors, so on days off I’ll try to get out of the city for a hike or find a new body of water to relax by.
2) What is the most amazing place you have visited and why?
Santorini, Greece. The Mediterranean is absolutely breathtaking. The water is crystal clear and bright blue and you can see right through to the bottom with a good pair of goggles on. The locals were warm and inviting and the food was out of this world! Did I mention the Santorini tomatoes? So so so good!
3) How do you unwind after a long day?
I like to come home and sink into a good TV series or a good book.
4) Do you have any favorite places to eat in San Francisco?
Cotogna for handmade pastas, Kokkari for Greek inspired fare, Ozumo or Tsunami for Japanese/Sushi.
5) What is your favorite aspect of Burn?
I love the spring board work! Especially leg springs!
6) Who is your ultimate celebrity crush?
7) Lastly, how did you become involved in the fitness industry?
I started as a client at Burn in 2014 and have really stuck with it since the beginning of this year. I love the feeling of accomplishment and challenging my body and mind to do things I never thought possible. I want to help others reach their goals and feel proud of what they can achieve and build mentally and physically.
