Congratulations to Lesley Giovannelli, the #FallBackOnBurn winner for the November challenge #ThanksBurn. Lesley smashed through the goal of attending 20 classes in 30 days and on top of rocking her Burn Beanie for the colder season here in SF, she has chosen to have BurnSF donate three hundred dollars in her name to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Foundation. Not only has Lesley been a longtime Burner, we are also shining the client spotlight on her for the month of December as one of our #BurnFaves.
Meet Lesley: the tall drink of water next to you at the board.
What brought you to BurnSF and what keeps you coming back?
I heard about it from a personal trainer friend of mine back before Irving was open. I had just had my second baby and was looking for a challenging workout that would fit my busy schedule. When the studio opened closer to home, I took my first class and was hooked. The class almost killed me, and I loved it. I keep coming back because it never gets boring, it always challenges me and it’s so convenient and efficient. Plus, I love the Burn team and fellow client community. Some group classes you go to in the City are very unwelcoming, Burn has always felt like a comfortable place for me.
What do you love to hate about BurnSF?
Fast feet! Not my favorite move. Scheduling a class ahead of time is sometimes challenging because it gets so busy, but it gets me there rain or shine if I know I’ve signed up.
When not at Burn, where can you be found in the city? (Favorite things to do)
Wow has this answer changed over the years! Nowadays, wherever there’s a soccer or baseball field. My son is a sports fanatic. In the City we love going to Giants games, Ocean Beach, Lands End trail, Mamacita for family happy hour along with our favorite parks and playgrounds. We also spend a good portion of free time in Sonoma, which is our favorite weekend getaway.
Tell us one interesting fact someone might not know about you.
I was a division 1 volleyball player at UMASS. I was actually born in Salem Massachusetts — I’m a witch 🙂
2 kids, Noah is 7 and Luciana is 4. Stella, my first baby is a geriatric mini dachshund. She’s named after my favorite beer at the time, Stella Artois — not the Stella from On the Waterfront with Marlon Brando.
How often do you Burn?
Burning it out 5–6 days a week, people must be sick of seeing me there!
Give a little back story about yourself.
One of my brothers is 14 months older than me, so we grew up doing all of the same things. I always wanted to keep up with him and his friends, and he pushed me to do things I likely wouldn’t have done had I not had him as a brother. I think he’s one of the reasons I am who I am today, not afraid of hard work and obstacles. We were (and are) extremely competitive growing up, but he’s also one of my best friends. Nothing makes me more happy than being with my family and watching our kids grow up together.
What inspires you?
My kids everyday, sunshine, a good challenge, strong women doing their thing.
