Lee John Nguyen was raised in Michigan, and has lived in Chicago, New York, North Carolina and LA. Several years ago, Lee fell in love with Wushu, a form of Chinese Martial Arts. In fact, he won gold at his first competition in California. Gaining confidence in his body and mind, he threw himself into ballet. When he’s not teaching, you can usually find Lee at John Alonzo Lines Ballet/ODC, or pumping at the gym.

Fun Facts

What are your favorite hobbies?
ANIME!!!!, Ballet, drawing/painting, reading, walking dogs and usually while munching on something sweet.

What is the most amazing place you have visited and why?
Saigon, Vietnam. It’s where my family is from. We came from a very humble background, tin roof and walls with no running water. It really opened up my eyes. Changed my whole world. You really don’t need much to be happy.

How do you unwind after a long day?
There’s nothing like just plopping on your bed and watching anime. Taking care of my plants and watching them blossom really calms me down too. Last but not least, a nice deep stretch before I go to bed.

Do you have any favorite places to eat in San Francisco?
I don’t go out to eat much, I usually cook everything (gotta pinch every penny in this city). If I do want to spoil myself though, it’s usually an Avocado Boba and anything in Chinatown (so cheap)!

What is your favorite aspect of Burn?
I love anything with the springs. It just makes everything more fun! I feel like a little kid when bouncing around.

Who is your ultimate celebrity crush?
My goodness….. it’s a tie between Jared Leto and Gong Yoo! *drool*

Lastly, how did you become involved in the fitness industry?
I was a chubby kid so Martial Arts really gave me the body and confidence to push myself. After that, Ballet took over my world. It really made me aware of every single part of my body and mind. Now I just constantly want to keep pushing my body and mind to the fullest and helping others along the way is the cherry on top.
