Meet Joyce, she is part of team of women who are starting an international cycling program called Still Life Cycling- designed to empower teen girls through art and adventure. This summer the group of women educator and artists will be cycling the perimeter of the Iceland, along the famous Ring Road. Their mission is to lay the groundwork for an international cycling program for teenage girls.

Joyce started taking BURN classes in the spring of 2014, shortly after she suffered from an ACL tear playing basketball. After proper rest (of course) she signed up for the unlimited month at BURN and was instantly hooked. The results were addictive and the program helped tone and shape her body along with regular dance classes. With the help of the BURN’s conditioning work she did not need surgery. Instead, her body recovered, the class provided intense focus, self discipline and she was able to target all her muscle groups. All the supporting muscles around the hurt knee became much stronger and her body lengthened in areas that it had been overcompensating because of the injury.  The work was hard but she liked that she wasn’t alone – the class structure is supportive and the BURN teachers are encouraging.

The full body strength training is the perfect way for her to train for the Iceland tour because BURN helps build stamina – confidence – a strong core – and those things can carry you for miles, especially when your legs get tired and you want to quit!

Burn is generously sponsoring two months of Joyce’s training program, and in turn promoting a program that empowers young female leaders and adventurers alike. A great way to support and build community!
