Welcome our newest instructor joining the Burn team: Jamie.
Jamie was born on an Air Force Base in Oklahoma, raised in Arizona, and now calls San Francisco home. As a child, Jamie was always on her feet and moving around. When she was three years old, her parents tell a story that she once burst in to tears while dancing around the living room. When asked what was the matter, she said, “I don’t want to dance any more, but I can’t stop.” Thus, her parents decided to channel that energy by putting her in dance classes.
During college, Jamie discovered a love for Pilates and yoga, but hadn’t yet considered a career in fitness. However, shortly after moving to San Francisco five years ago, she began training for the San Francisco Marathon in 2012. Training for that race completely changed her life. Now a passionate marathoner and half marathoner, she has developed a lifestyle that revolves around fitness, and wants to help others realize their potential and meet their own personal fitness goals. Jamie understands the positive impact of self-care and empowerment through physical fitness, and hopes to bring that to all of her classes at Burn (be ready-she loves Cardio sets).
When she isn’t running or Burn-ing, Jamie loves going to concerts, traveling, taking her dog on car rides, and unashamedly watching Pretty Little Liars.
1) What are some of your favorite things to do?
Running, traveling, music, spending time with my dog.
2) What is the most amazing place you have visited and why?
I was training for a marathon last year while visiting Paris, France, and due to the change in time zone, I was waking up extremely early in the morning. I took advantage of this, and would go running before most people were even awake. Seeing the streets of Paris almost empty at 5 AM, with few people outside aside from the other runners-it added an extra element of magic to such a beautiful city.
3) How do you unwind after a long day?
I drink hot Chamomile tea to relax at home. 🙂
4) Do you have any favorite places to eat in San Francisco?
I live in the Mission District so I have a few staples in the neighborhood: Foreign Cinema or Universal Cafe for brunch, and Pizzeria Delfina or Mission Chinese Food for dinner.
5) What is your favorite aspect of Burn?
6) Who is your ultimate celebrity crush?
Hmm, I could get into trouble with this one. Colin Farrell?
7) Lastly, how did you become involved in the fitness industry?
I fell in love with running, started working the Front Desk at Burn, and the rest is history.
